Frequently asked questions for Headshots & Portraits

What services do you provide?

Simple and affordable headshots and portraits created in the comfort of your own home or office for personal prints, enlargements,  social media usage (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc), dating websites and apps, company websites, and other personal purposes in the DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland area.

In addition, I offer product photography services in preparation for getting your images listed on your Amazon, Etsy, Walmart, etc.

Will you come to my place to for headshots?

Yes.  I travel to inside the Beltway, however, I will travel further for additional cost. For individuals, I'm available for appointments Mon-Fri after 6:30 pm, and all day Sat-Sun.  I do not maintain a central studio location.

What is the difference between a portrait and a headshot?

Portraits involve more than a headshot. Portrait sessions are designed to convey a story or let the viewer know more about you. By pulling in various elements of the portrait setting, the end result is something more creative. Portraits can be half-body, three quarters or full body compositions. These sessions are longer and customized based on client needs.

Headshots are ideal for use on personal and professional social media channels for entertainers, models, bloggers, business persons, and corporate websites. Sessions are shot from the shoulders up on a choice of black, brown, gray, or white background.

How are the photo sessions so affordable?

For fast and affordable portraits and headshots, I use  a simple lighting set-up with a portable background or optional outdoor setting. This minimizes the setup and breakdown time, and allows me to capture you in the comfort of your own home.  If you have a friend who also needs portraits or headshots, invite them over and I'll grant each of you a discount.  PLEASE NOTE: Parking fees will be an additional charge and it’ll add that to your total cost.  See below for small business pricing.

What should I expect during a head shot session?

Set-up takes about 15-minutes. I will need an empty 8 x 10 sq. ft. area or open space to give me enough room to work.  After the session, I will show you the photos I've taken to make sure you're happy with them, accept payment for my creative fee, go home, send you the proofs via email within 48 hours.

What products do you offer for sale from my private online gallery?

You may purchase regular prints, print enlargements, museum-quality canvas gallery wraps, or purchase and download your fully edited full-resolution digital file(s).

What should I wear?

Dress the way you feel most comfortable with and how you want the general public to see you.  I recommend having a few solid colored shirts/outfits handy just in case something isn't working. I suggest that you avoid patterns and remove all jewelry during your session.

I've never had a head shot taken before, I'm nervous!

Your session will be fun and simple.  I want you to be as relaxed as possible and bring out the very best in you. Feel free to bring a few friends along for support, have a glass of wine before/during the session, or put on some music during the shoot.

Would you take an advanced headshot or environmental portrait for me?

Yes, but it depends on the look you want, and the prices may vary.  Please use the contact form for specific requests.  It would be helpful to send me an example of what you'd like to emulate.
